Browser game, captured on a phone-sized screen
Play
Tap the rocks. Hold the planet.
Tap incoming asteroids before they reach your planet, chain combos, and hold the planet to charge a Nova that clears the field. The campaign has 32 levels across Earth, Mars, the Black Hole and Nebula Prime, with boss levels and star ratings. Score Attack has a daily layout, Endless keeps going, and the Arena pits you against 20 computer players. English only.
Predecessor
Bye Asteroid, renamed for the web.
Orbit carries over everything from the iOS game Bye Asteroid except what hung on advertising. There are no ads, no purchases and no account; gems come from play only. Progress lives in the browser and the game works offline. An optional cloud backup keeps one encrypted copy of the save, which a 24-word phrase opens on another device.
Under the surface
Checked against the iOS game.
Orbit is written in Svelte 5 and TypeScript and draws on a canvas. A Swift harness compiles the original game files and writes out their tables, level layouts, daily Score Attack layouts and a hash of every sprite; a test requires the web version to match all of them, every sprite pixel for pixel.
Limits
Played in a browser, built for a phone-sized screen.
On a wide screen the playfield keeps a portrait-like column so the game stays as fair as on a phone. Mouse and keyboard work. The soundtrack is veiled so casual scrapers cannot lift it; anyone who reads the code still can, because a browser has to be able to play it. The screenshots are from the live game, level 1-1.
