Product identity
The idea
A packaged engine and interface.
Telemachos packages the Odysseus engine, web interface, Python runtime and persistent Chroma database inside a standalone Mac application. There is no server address to enter or Docker service to manage.
The Mac part
Native integration and lifecycle.
A native WebKit shell handles files, downloads, permissions, logs and settings. Its engine listens on a random loopback port while the app is open and stops when the app quits. Writable state stays in Application Support.
Attribution
A distribution, with a clear lineage.
Telemachos is a modified distribution of Odysseus, licensed AGPL-3.0-or-later. The upstream authors retain credit for their work. My contribution is the standalone macOS distribution and integration.
Requirements
Local app, optional external services.
Requires Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later. Some models, providers and tools need their own credentials, runtimes or downloads. The community build is ad-hoc signed and not notarized.
