Kurzfassung
Varifokal ist eine Filmkamera-App für iPhone. Sie belichtet ein Bild, entwickelt es auf dem Gerät und legt das fertige JPEG in Ihrer Fotomediathek ab; im Cine-Modus nimmt sie kurze Filmszenen auf. Die App hat kein Benutzerkonto, keinen Server, keine Werbung und keine Analyse- oder Trackingdienste und stellt keine Netzwerkanfragen.
Kamera
Varifokal braucht die rückwärtige Kamera. Das Kamerabild dient zur Belichtungsmessung und zur Aufnahme des Bildes oder der Szene, die Sie auslösen. Es wird darüber hinaus weder aufgezeichnet noch übertragen, und weil es keinen Sucher gibt, zeigt die App es nicht einmal an.
Mikrofon
Nur im Cine-Modus nimmt Varifokal Ton zu Ihrer Szene auf; dafür fragt iOS nach dem Mikrofon. Fotos verwenden das Mikrofon nie. Ohne Freigabe nimmt die App keinen Ton auf.
Fotomediathek
Ein fertig entwickeltes Bild oder eine Szene legt Varifokal in Ihrer Fotomediathek ab. Die Berechtigung erlaubt nur das Hinzufügen; vorhandene Fotos kann die App weder lesen noch durchsuchen oder löschen. Nach dem Sichern gelten Ihre Einstellungen für Fotos und iCloud, und Varifokal behält keine Kopie.
Standort
Schalten Sie in den Einstellungen „Geotag finished JPEGs“ ein, liest Varifokal während der Aufnahme Ihren Standort und schreibt ihn in das JPEG, wie es eine Kamera mit GPS tut. Der Standort dient nur diesem Zweck, wird nicht übertragen und nicht getrennt gespeichert. Die Funktion ist ab Werk ausgeschaltet; schalten Sie sie aus, endet die Standortnutzung sofort.
Einstellungen und Diagnoseprotokoll
Ihre Kameraeinstellungen und den Stand des eingelegten Films (Filmnummer, belichtete Bilder, Gesamtzahl) speichert die App auf dem Gerät. Diese Angaben enthalten keine personenbezogenen Daten.
Damit sich Kamerafehler nachvollziehen lassen, führt Varifokal außerdem ein kleines technisches Protokoll auf dem Gerät, etwa welches Format eingestellt war oder ob ein Bild geschrieben werden konnte. Es enthält keine Bild- oder Tondaten. In den Einstellungen können Sie das Protokoll in die Zwischenablage kopieren, um es mir bei einem Fehler zu schicken; ohne Ihr Zutun verlässt es das Gerät nicht.
Berechtigungen
Kamera: nötig, um zu belichten. Hinzufügen zu Fotos: nötig, um fertige Bilder und Szenen zu sichern. Mikrofon: nur für Ton im Cine-Modus. Standort beim Verwenden: freiwillig und nur für die Standortmarkierung. Lehnen Sie Mikrofon oder Standort ab, hat das keinen Einfluss auf die Kamera.
Internetverbindung
Belichten, Entwickeln und Sichern funktionieren ohne jede Internetverbindung. Die App enthält keine Software von Drittanbietern; die Filmsimulation ist eigener Programmcode und läuft auf Ihrem Gerät.
App Store
Sie laden die App über den App Store von Apple. Daten zum Download, zu Käufen und zu Ihrem Apple Account verarbeitet Apple in eigener Verantwortung; es gilt die Datenschutzrichtlinie von Apple. Zahlungsdaten erhalte ich nicht. Apple stellt mir nur zusammengefasste Verkaufs- und Downloadzahlen bereit, die keinen Rückschluss auf einzelne Personen erlauben.
Haben Sie auf Ihrem Gerät unter „Einstellungen“ → „Datenschutz & Sicherheit“ → „Analyse & Verbesserungen“ die Option „Mit App-Entwicklern teilen“ eingeschaltet, stellt Apple mir außerdem Absturzberichte und Nutzungsstatistiken der App bereit. Apple gibt diese Daten nur in einer Form weiter, die Sie nicht identifiziert. Ich nutze sie ausschließlich, um Fehler zu finden. Sie können die Option dort jederzeit abschalten.
Backups
Ihr Gerät kann die Daten der App in ein iCloud-Backup oder in ein Backup auf Ihrem Computer aufnehmen. Ob und wo das geschieht, bestimmen Ihre Geräteeinstellungen; für iCloud-Backups gilt die Datenschutzrichtlinie von Apple. Auf solche Backups habe ich keinen Zugriff.
Kinder
Varifokal hat die Altersfreigabe 4+ und erhebt von niemandem personenbezogene Daten, also auch nicht von Kindern.
Löschen
Entfernen Sie die App, verschwinden ihre Einstellungen und das Diagnoseprotokoll. Bilder und Szenen in Ihrer Fotomediathek bleiben dort, weil sie Ihnen gehören; löschen Sie sie dort, wenn Sie möchten.
Ihre Rechte
Aus der App erhalte ich keine personenbezogenen Daten. Die Daten auf Ihrem Gerät verwalten Sie selbst.
Soweit ich personenbezogene Daten über Sie verarbeite, können Sie nach Maßgabe der gesetzlichen Voraussetzungen
- Auskunft über diese Daten verlangen (Art. 15 DSGVO),
- unrichtige Daten berichtigen lassen (Art. 16 DSGVO),
- die Löschung Ihrer Daten verlangen (Art. 17 DSGVO),
- die Einschränkung der Verarbeitung verlangen (Art. 18 DSGVO) und
- Ihre Daten in einem gängigen, maschinenlesbaren Format erhalten (Art. 20 DSGVO).

Widerspruchsrecht
Verarbeite ich Daten auf Grundlage von Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO (berechtigtes Interesse), können Sie dieser Verarbeitung aus Gründen, die sich aus Ihrer besonderen Situation ergeben, jederzeit widersprechen (Art. 21 DSGVO). Ich verarbeite die Daten dann nicht mehr, es sei denn, ich kann zwingende schutzwürdige Gründe nachweisen, die Ihre Interessen, Rechte und Freiheiten überwiegen, oder die Verarbeitung dient der Geltendmachung, Ausübung oder Verteidigung von Rechtsansprüchen.
Beschwerde bei einer Aufsichtsbehörde
Sie können sich bei einer Datenschutz-Aufsichtsbehörde beschweren, insbesondere in dem Mitgliedstaat Ihres gewöhnlichen Aufenthaltsorts, Ihres Arbeitsplatzes oder des Orts des mutmaßlichen Verstoßes (Art. 77 DSGVO).
Automatisierte Entscheidungen
Automatisierte Entscheidungen im Einzelfall einschließlich Profiling im Sinne von Art. 22 DSGVO finden nicht statt.

Summary
Varifokal is a film camera app for iPhone. It exposes a frame, develops it on the device and puts the finished JPEG in your photo library; in cine mode it records short film takes. The app has no user account, no server, no advertising and no analytics or tracking, and it makes no network requests.
Camera
Varifokal needs the rear camera. The camera feed is used to meter the scene and to capture the frame or take you trigger. Beyond that it is neither recorded nor transmitted, and because there is no viewfinder, the app does not even display it.
Microphone
Varifokal records sound only in cine mode, onto your take; iOS asks for the microphone for this. Photographs never use the microphone. Without permission, the app records no sound.
Photo library
Varifokal adds each developed frame or take to your photo library. The permission only allows adding; the app can neither read, browse nor delete existing photos. Once saved, your Photos and iCloud settings apply, and Varifokal keeps no copy.
Location
If you turn on "Geotag finished JPEGs" in the settings, Varifokal reads your location while you shoot and writes it into the JPEG, as a camera with GPS does. The location is used for nothing else, is not transmitted and is not stored separately. The feature is off by default; turning it off stops location use immediately.
Settings and diagnostics log
The app stores your camera settings and the state of the loaded roll (roll number, frames exposed, total frames) on the device. These contain no personal data.
To make camera faults traceable, Varifokal also keeps a small technical log on the device, for example which format was set or whether a frame could be written. It contains no image or audio data. In the settings you can copy the log to the clipboard to send it to me with a bug report; it never leaves the device unless you do that.
Permissions
Camera: required to expose. Add to Photos: required to save finished frames and takes. Microphone: only for sound in cine mode. Location while using the app: optional and only for geotagging. Declining the microphone or location has no effect on the camera.
Internet connection
Exposing, developing and saving all work with no internet connection at all. The app contains no third-party software; the film simulation is its own code and runs on your device.
App Store
You download the app from Apple's App Store. Apple processes data about the download, purchases and your Apple Account under its own responsibility; the Apple Privacy Policy applies. I never receive payment details. Apple gives me only aggregated sales and download figures that do not identify anyone.
If you have turned on "Share With App Developers" under Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements on your device, Apple also gives me crash reports and usage statistics for the app. Apple passes them on only in a form that does not identify you, and I use them only to find bugs. You can turn the option off there at any time.
Backups
Your device may include the app's data in an iCloud backup or in a backup on your computer. Your device settings decide whether and where that happens; iCloud backups are covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. I have no access to such backups.
Children
Varifokal is rated 4+ and collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Deleting data
Removing the app deletes its settings and the diagnostics log. Frames and takes in your photo library stay there because they are yours; delete them there if you want them gone.
Your rights
I receive no personal data from the app. You manage the data on your device yourself.
Where I process personal data about you, you may, subject to the statutory conditions,
- request access to that data (Art. 15 GDPR),
- have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16 GDPR),
- request erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR),
- request restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), and
- receive your data in a common, machine-readable format (Art. 20 GDPR).
An informal message to info@tiborczekay.com or through the contact form is enough.
Right to object
Where I process data on the basis of Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interests), you may object to that processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation (Art. 21 GDPR). I will then stop processing the data unless I can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is needed to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Complaint to a supervisory authority
You may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the member state of your habitual residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement (Art. 77 GDPR).
Automated decisions
There is no automated individual decision-making, including profiling, within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.

Changes
If the app changes in a way that makes this policy inaccurate, I will update it. The current version is always at tiborczekay.com/varifokal/privacy; the date at the top shows when it was last changed.
